Driving along one day and the engine on my truck died. The crankshaft snapped at the harmonic balancer.
Looking through the timing chain cover at the rest of the crankshaft and the lower timing chain sprocket.
Pulling the engine using an A-frame hoist
Upon teardown I discovered a crack between the exhaust and intake valve seats on one of the cylinders, a common ford 4.0L problem.
Part availability was scare, so I purchased a second motor to pull parts from.
Checking endplay on the newly installed and refinished crankshaft.
Rebuilt motor with fresh heads and crankshaft going back into the truck.
